'til Tuesday (seven weeks away)
Today…
is National Pancake Day, but because it comes on March 353, 2020, instead of giving out a free stack like they usually would, IHOP is offering an IOU that can’t be redeemed until April. Like April is coming. Psh.
is Mardi Gras, which you know. Growing up, I don’t remember Mardi Gras being a big thing at all – although Lent absolutely was. Everywhere in town had a fish special on Fridays. We went for Ash Wednesday, we made palm crosses like it was our job, we didn’t have (public) school on Good Friday. But I didn’t have a king cake for the first time until I was in my 30s.
You can hear it immediately, can’t you:
He said, shut up / He said, shut up / Oh God / can’t you / keep it doooowwn??
