in 1995, Roberta Cooper Ramo became the first woman to head the American Bar Association. “That’s wild, the ABA didn’t have a woman as president ‘til 1995.” Mm hm! Thirteen years later after that, in 2008, Cooper Ramo became the first women to head the American Law Institute.
is National Polka Day. They always remind me of home. Growing up, we had a Polish church, Polish-American clubs, the food, the music, it was everywhere. At the Italian festival, they didn’t play Sinatra, they played polkas. On Sundays, the family cheered the Pittsburgh Steelers *clapclapclapclap* with a polka. My grandmother – not Nana, the other one – listened to so much polka, for years I thought she was at least part Polish.
