More than halfway there
Today… is Thursday. We can make it, I swear.
…is the birthday of Florence Rosenfeld Howe (1929-2020), founder of the Feminist Press, a leader in the development of women’s studies as an academic discipline and a champion of women’s writing.
And just by looking at her you gotta know this is a woman who could host a cocktail party, tell a story that would lay out even the sauciest 20somethings.
…I do not have a dentist appointment, unlike the last two days. Earlier this week, I lost a filling, it was a whole situation. And of course, I hadn’t been to a dentist in forever, because for me the experience has usually been nauseating at best, and at worst, body horror. This new-to-me office was none of those things, and I was floored.
Quick story. Years ago, I was at the gynecologist’s who I’ve been seeing forever, love her, I’m fully in the stirrups and we’re chatting away. She’s telling me about her brother-in-law, who’s a dentist.
Her: …and I told him, I don’t know how you do that. In mouths all day? *wrinkles her nose* Not for me. He looked at me like,
Me: Oh no no, I’m with you 100%, I would much rather be a gynecologist. Mouths are so much worse. Ew.
