Mama's got a brand new bag
Today…
in 1971, the Supreme Court issued a decision in Phillips v Martin Marietta, the first sex discrimination case under Title VII to make it before the court. The decision affirmed that an employer cannot refuse to hire women with preschool-age children while hiring men with children of the same age. (I know, I shouldn’t gripe because 1) water under the bridge and 2) I have good news, but I will die mad at the amount of harassment and nonsense I took from my boss when I had preschool-age children. Because I had preschool-age children.)
Two decades in comms and I’m over here burying the lede: I’m starting next week with Power To Decide!
You guys. I am beyond excited to return to regular full-time employment, in repro, one paycheck, with benefits. Eff a 1099 in 2022. I am breathing for the first time in four years. Yes, it’s true that I’ve worked steadily as a consultant, but the uncertainty has been eating me alive. The flexibility is great. Managing all my own admin is the worst.
More to come, but those school lunches aren’t going to make themselves.
