It's not a habit, it's cool
Today is National Twinkie Day, which always reminds me of the summer when the 12yo was reading the Babysitters Club and asking to try the junk foods they ate, including Twinkies, SpaghettiOs, Reddi-Wip and Easy Cheese. Each time, the conversation would go something like:
Her: Can we try ‘spray cheese?’ It sounds kinda good.
Me: It’s really not, but okay.
I did think the Twinkies would go over, but no. She soundly rejected all but the Reddi-Wip, while the 14yo was on board with everything but the SpaghettiOs.
No, these aren’t still in my cabinet. I posted this picture in August 2017 and you can imagine the response, pretty cleanly split between Midwestern nostalgia/fondness and Twinkies, I would never.
P.S. Did you not receive a newsletter yesterday? I published it as usual, no problems, but metrics suggest no one got it. Kind of a shame, too, I amused myself with that headline.
