"Having kids isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”
Oh God, what’ve those Zoomers done now. Not even about them, surprisingly. This BuzzFeed piece just hit on a conversation that hasn’t left my head since the family came to visit over Labor Day. Aunt Vegas told us about a time she was complaining about her Xennials to Big Nana, who replied, “You know, having kids isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.” And while Aunt Vegas couldn’t really argue with the truth, we agreed it was quite a thing to hear from one’s mother. Big Nana, possessed of so few fucks but so many facts.
That’s her in the chair, September 1968. She taught beauty school for a time, and had a small shop in the basement when my mother and her sister were young.
